Large Jawed Orb Web Spiders - Tetragnatha sp.

    Family - Tetragnathidae
    Genus - Tetragnatha
    Eight European species.
    Distinct elongate appearance. Tetragnatha means 'four-jawed'.
    These Spiders spin an Orb Web often near or over water.
    If disturbed they leave their web and stretch out on blades of
    grass or stems. The large Chelicerae are locked together when mating.
