House / Cobweb Spiders - Tegenaria sp.

    Family - Agelenidae
    Genus - Tegenaria
Large, fast moving Spiders, thought to be
responsible for many cases of Arachnophobia.
Eleven European species. Sheet Web with a Tubular retreat.
The only Spider I don't handle but I am working upto it.
Females can live for several years. Males can be seen late Summer
searching for mates. They live together for a few
weeks but eventually die and are eaten by the Female.
She took 3 Woodlice and a Weevil in a few minutes!

I found her in the street so bought her home and let her go in my garden.
She soon found her way in to my flat!
I took advantage of the situation and put her in my bath for a
    quick photoshoot!
